Description:
1. Oversees the development and administration of clinical activities specific to the pre and post kidney/pancreas and liver coordinators and support staff.
2. Ensures patient care is provided in accordance with established policies and procedures.
3. Reviews patient records to ensure proper documentation.
4. Reviews statistics for accuracy. Request and reviews statistical reports for submission to payors, UNOS and other agencies.
5. Communicates daily with various physicians, nursing units and other SLUH entities to coordinate services, resolve operational problems and improve quality of patient care.
6. Investigates, consults with physicians and administration and documents the resolution of complaints or incidents concerning patients or staff.
7. Interviews, counsels, evaluates, hires and recommends termination of assigned personnel.
8. Develops, implements and administers policies and procedures for assigned areas to achieve short and long term goals and objectives.
9. Reviews and revises protocols, guidelines and standards as changes occur. Ensures compliance with patient safety programs, quality assurance, Medicare, ESRD network and JCAHO requirements.
10. Provides information to physicians, community groups, referral agencies, payors, vendors, patients and families about programs on request.
11. Develops and maintains cooperative working relationship with physicians, other departments, other health care facilities and the community to gather and exchange information, develop and implement solutions to problems.
12. Assists the Medical/Surgical Directors and Transplant Administrator with the clinical management of the department of Transplant Services.
Qualifications:
Required Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
Required License: Registered Nurse License in Missouri
Required Experience: Previous Transplant Coordinator experience; 3-5 years managerial experience in Transplant services
