Description:
Provides and delivers direct patient care to patients with behavioral diagnosis. Serves as a member of assigned treatment team, reporting observations to the team leader, Charge Nurse, patient care manager and patient. Assists in the admission process by collecting data for psychosocial history by summarizing the patients' past/present medical, social, psychological history, and reporting findings to the Charge Nurse.
Assists and participates in adjunctive therapies such as: Psychodrama, Humor Psychotherapy, Motion/Movement therapy, Music therapy, OT, RT, or poetry therapy.
Provides assistance and supervision to patients unable or unwilling to meet their own physical needs (i.e. bathing, oral hygiene, care of clothing, etc.) Serves as an escort and/or supervisor for patients requiring services outside of the unit. Safely transports patients to these services as well as therapeutic recreational activities as needed.
Certified in Techniques of Effective Aggression Management, assists other employees in being aware of safety issue, precursors to aggressive behavior, environmental dangers and use of proper procedures.
Qualifications:
College coursework in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other health related field. Experience in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or other health related field is required. Work experience in a hospital setting is preferred, but will train.
Keep current with state of art. Control Prevention Intervention (CPI) or documented Effective Aggression Management training. BLS training is also required.
